Apparently, it’s only girls saying “blowjob” that shocks MSNBC.
Or maybe it’s when guests say “blowjob” that it’s shocking.
Or perhaps our culture has coarsened since July 13, 2009, when Marcy Wheeler said “blowjob” on MSNBC and made her MSNBC hosts and Elite Media Commentators swoon on their fainting sofas.
Your move, Howie Kurtz. And, yes, the context is exactly the same: the Clinton/Lewinsky “blowjob” investigation.
Lawrence O’Donnell ropes FDL Newser David Dayen into some high-flying hyperbole, announcing: "… and so, the battle for the soul of the Democratic Party is joined!" Between, according to Lawrence, the Leader of the Free World alongside his Vice President of the United States on one side — and a blogger on the other.
Wow, this is a great appearance by a wonderful spokesman I had not seen before on the "Just Say Now" side. Please try to ignore the MSNBC anchormodel who betrays more than he knows when he says in the intro, "I just want to get it in the simplest of terms…." Gotcha, buddy.
New York Democrat Charlie Rangel didn’t like the tenor or tone of Young Master Russert’s questions today about his tax returns and loss of the Chairmanship of the Ways and Means Committee. It sounds to me like Rangel knows perfectly well how Luke Russert got his job — "Luke, I’m your father: make them hire you!"
Oedipus Russert needs to understand that everyone who deals with him knows he didn’t get his job on merit, but based on the grief of NBC hiring executives who loved Medium Russ. It’s affirmative action for the connected, the legated, and the wealthy and cossetted. No one respects Luke Russert for his journamalism skills except Cougar Greenspan who gets excited talking with him on-air.
Oh, also Chuck Todd, who seems to think Wee Russ makes him look Very Serious despite his goatee.
No, really, this isn’t an April Fool. Today is Rachel Maddow’s birthday. Regardless of your opinion of her brand of commentary and journalism — and I think pretty highly of her — at least recognize her as a pioneering lesbian cable news host.
Send Rachel a birthday greeting at rachel@msnbc.com
Help Rachel become a trending twitter topic with the #maddow hashtag in your tweets today.
Really, this man has poisoned our political discourse one too many times. Just let Chris Mattews go now, MSNBC. Just let him go. He is an embarrassment to your network and an embarrassment to our nation.
It’s way past time.
And I don’t really care if Barack Obama forgives him later this week at a Very Special Beer Summit II: The Tweetying. It’s the rest of us who are offended and done with him. Just let him go.
