I just got the following email this morning from Organizing For America, asking for my support in getting the Senate’s health insurance industry giveaway passed, so Barack can claim he delivered ‘health care reform’:
Stan –
If we don’t pass health reform, millions of Americans will be trapped in a broken status quo, unable to pay their bills or see a doctor when they need one.
More and more employers will drop coverage for employees. And Medicare and Medicaid will blow a hole through our budget.
There’s too much at stake to not get this done. That’s why OFA supporters have made 849,856 calls to Congress in support of health reform since August.
And that’s why today, with the Senate locked in last-minute negotiations, our goal is to hit one million calls.
Can you help? Please call your senators now and help us “ring in reform.” Then click here to let us know you called.
This holiday season, millions of Americans will go without desperately needed care simply because they can’t afford insurance.
But insurance lobbyists are desperate to pull apart the bill and derail reform, so your voice is needed now.
Senator Hagan is already fighting hard for reform, and deserves our thanks. Senator Burr needs to know you are counting on him to do the right thing.
Just dial the numbers above, then tell the staffers who answer where you live — so that they know you are a constituent — and that you support reform.
Then click here to make sure you call is counted in the race to a million:

Thanks for standing up,

Can you believe this? They’re still pretending to be fighting against the health insurance industry. I’ve had enough!
I immediately unsubscribed, and gave this as my reason:
Barack Obama was a fraud. I was duped.
I NEVER should have voted for him. He cut back door deals with the insurance and pharmaceutical industries before the debate had even begun, and he and Rahm and others in the Administration then proceeded to undermine the public option and real health care reform for the entire process.
He is WEAK, DUPLICITOUS, and has betrayed everyone who believed in him.
I’m finished with the Democratic Party and, in particular, Barack Obama.
The only language these political whores understand is the one that threatens their own political self-interests.
I propose that everyone immediately do as I did, and send a loud denunciation to Barack Obama by unsubscribing to his political arm, Organizing For America, and when they ask you for the reason, tell them exactly why. Here’s the link to unsubscribe: Organizing For America.
If everyone does this at once they’ll realize they’ve got a serious problem on their hands from the Left, and perhaps they’ll reconsider pressuring Harry Reid from pursuing reconciliation.

That sounds like a quick and simple way to send a clear and unmistakable message.
Thanks. I actually got the idea from another poster on here who brought up the idea somewhere in her post (I commented there, but now can’t find the post, so thought I’d resurrect the idea)
Since it is Obama’s political arm — the organization that got him elected, and will try to get him elected once again — you just know that he and David Axelrod must keep in touch with them on a daily basis, coordinating email drives like this one, etc.
I can’t think of a better way of sending Obama a clear and loud message than to have thousands of people unsubscribe in the midst of this health care reform fiasco.
I can just see it now:
Mitch Stewart calls David Axelrod and tells him: “David, sit down, we’ve got serious problems here.” :)
… and if Reid should do an about-face, and take this into reconciliation which could ensure a Medicare-buy-in for everyone, or a robust public option, then I’d be happy to reconsider signing back up.
Our support should visibly waver with Obama’s actions. Punish him — in a way they can measure — when he betrays us, and reward him when he’s forced to backtrack and redeem himself.
Yeah, I did this too. I also asked for a refund for my vote, my donations, and my time volunteering.
Cool! I hope others will help send Obama a message.
Did it from the moment the PHarma deal came to light.
I will actively work for him to lose in 2012 and I will be actively working to beat any Democrat who votes for this steaming pile of shit in 2010.
I plan on doing the same.
I have been registered on the above website since volunteering in the 2008 campaign but, as far as I can see, the site has been abandoned – there seems to be zero interest in hearing fromn formner supporters now that Obama has been elected. Not to be cynical, but I doubt if unsubscribing would even be noticed.
Well, they officially merged with Democratic National Committee, so they are now sharing resources (probably focusing their web site activities there).
But the point is they are still using its member list to get people to push Obama’s agenda. Aside from the email I put in my post above, here’s another email campaign they did recently: http://www.alterpolitics.com/politics/organizing-for-america-targets-gop-on-health-care-why-not-blue-dogs/
What a large number of immediate unsubscribers would achieve is it would send them a loud message of ‘dissatisfaction’ — in a way that can be measured, which is very important to political campaigns.
Think about it, why would anyone unsubscribe unless they were furious with Obama? It’s not like they send many emails these days, so logically speaking, it wouldn’t be attributed to people getting sick of all their emails.
It appears someone from Organizing For America just replied to my post at my site for anyone who’s interested: http://www.alterpolitics.com/politics/send-president-obama-a-loud-message-unsubscribe-from-organizing-for-america/comment-page-1/#comment-57
Politico is now writing about this effort to fight back. (Incidentally, they gave my blog a mention — linked to it — in paragraph 5.) http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30768.html
