Despite all intelligence agencies (in the U.S. and in Israel) reconfirming the assessment that “Iran hasn’t yet decided to pursue a nuclear weapon and has not reconstituted a clandestine nuclear weapons program,” which the 2007 National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) expressed, with “high confidence,” had been abandoned in 2003, the world is nonetheless punishing (boycotting) Iran, as if it is doing just that.
Now Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is stating that Iran bares the burden of proving its “Intentions” to her:
US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Sunday urged Iran to back up its declaration that Islam bars weapons of mass destruction by agreeing to a plan that would prove it does not intend to develop nuclear arms.
To demonstrate just how ludicrous this line of thinking is, imagine if a police officer knocked on your door, and informed you that all their evidence suggested you were an honest and law-abiding citizen, but that he would arrest you anyways, unless you could provide proof to him that you had no “intentions” of committing a crime.
More and more, this ‘Iranian threat’ crusade is beginning to resemble a staged controversy of the very worst kind.

Bush to Iraq : We Have Proof You Are Pursuing WMDs, So Prove You Are Not Intending To.
Where have we heard this before ?
is this like How not to be seen ?
LOL! I miss the old Monty Python series. haha

Actually, it’s beyond ludicrous. Thanks for the post.

Mahalo, CallUp…!
Once again, we’ve fallen for the logical fallacy that Negative evidence of something can be turned into Positive evidence of something…! 8-(
Btw, April Fool’s…?
Man whose WMD lies led to 100,000 deaths confesses all…
Defector tells how US officials ‘sexed up’ his fictions to make the case for 2003 invasion
Proving a negative is impossible, so we can only conclude that the Hillary Hawk…knows what she’s doin’.
Funny, though; I read the story at Bloomberg this mornin’, and this stuck out:
Breezing right by the Syria Stuff, read this bolded sentence, and the glaring disconnect of the irony, if that’s not too mild a word for it.
That the Sunni Gulf Coast Council client states of NATO (we will give or sell you all the weapons of war, and a li’l defense from those pesky Shiites and look the other way while you murder them) are meeting to decide how much further to ring our/NATO ‘new Axes of Evil’ enemies with missiles…is sad and sick, but imo the new Cold War Clinton, et.al. are setting up seems headed for disaster.
Remember when some of us were babes in the woods and figured eventually our country would run out of money to wage War Everlasting? Whoosh.
That was a moment in time…that wasn’t.
And to prove we mean what we say, we threaten the Iranians with death for not developing nuclear weapons.
Must be terribly confusing to the Iranians to hear all the crazy talk about what they haven’t done and why they may have to suffer as a result.
Recommend your post, TheCallUp!
The good news ; all the war mongers will suffer a prolonged death from Atomic fallout.
The bad news: so will everybody else.

Saudis pay Gulf war debt
Liars, they are.
So what is the objective? Arms sales? Russia isn’t going this route with missile defense. Putin said these aren’t effective enough for the cost.

They aren’t, and I was on the ground floor for the first Patriot ADA system to deploy overseas…! I tell ya that Israel, in particular, and the EU/Nato is being lulled into a false sense of security if they’re relying on THAADS, Arrow, and/or Iron Dome to save their bacon…!
Iran is feeling very secure and loved surrounded as they’re by all their friends and neighbors. And they are the threat? Put a sock in it hillary.
All those mean ashkenazi punks need to be dealt. bibi
I don’t see way out of this cycle of time and insanity, but good stuff is also possible, it is no time to quit trying to grab the brass ring of sanity.
Pardon the ramble…I am real worried for my children as are all of you, and I try and write it out of me.
Thanks for letting me do so. Nice post Call Up.
I’d say it is high time for a re-make of Dr. Strangelove. Who plays HRC?
Danny DeVito?
ROTFLM(dusty)AO!
Thank you Blue.
Thanks CTuttle. It is becoming so absurd, it is a wonder the MSM isn’t pointing this out just how illogical it all is.
We are boycotting Iran, sanctioning banks that deal w/ them, ruining their economy, etc. because …? ALL our (and Israeli) intelligence says they are not doing anything. Yet, the MSM covers this effort as if this is a logical policy. Makes my head spin.
Great points.
If I were Iranians, I’d be terrified, and doing everything I could to develop nuclear weapons. Without WMDs as a deterrent, it is obvious just by how this fictitious narrative has been pressed (and followed blindly by EU) that Israel/US will devise any ridiculous ‘reason’ to bomb them.
LOL! :)
Thank you, Maddy.
Some people have been making huge amounts of money in the middle east since 1991, making war.
But maybe, since Iran is the last middle east boogeyman, they will threaten it, but leave it in place, since they are making so much money as things are.
according to Dr. Postol of MIT, Patriot missiles don’t do a good job of knocking out incoming missiles.
wikipedia:
“In April 1992, Postol told a House committee that “the Patriot’s intercept rate during the Gulf War was very low. The evidence from these preliminary studies indicates that Patriot’s intercept rate could be much lower than 10 percent, possibly even zero.”[2]
The House Government Operations Subcommittee on Legislation and National Security later reported,
The Patriot missile system was not the spectacular success in the Persian Gulf War that the American public was led to believe. There is little evidence to prove that the Patriot hit more than a few Scud missiles launched by Iraq during the Gulf War, and there are some doubts about even these engagements. The public and the Congress were misled by definitive statements of success issued by administration and Raytheon representatives during and after the war. ”
The Clinton’s are making some nice contacts aren’t they? Wow.
The Hillary Hawk by Anthony Freda.
very fine work.
Freda is in your face Dada-esque, imo. A one, two punch here. He sent them to me a few days apart if i remember correctly.
Oopsie; just opened the diary; it was a one, two, three punch. Forgot.
Maybe their thinkin’ that the incoming rockets are going to be the equivalent of the crude homemade pipe bomb projectiles shot off by Islamic Jihad from Gaza.
that’s great!
Freda’s work is sincerely awesome, and I hope we can figure out some way I can still use it via flickr, though I haven’t heard back from him when I sent the proposition about uploading his pieces there, so…mebbe I have my answer. ;o) I dunno what the impact of that would be to him.
