I use the bible allot when I write because everyone knows it unlike say Socrates, Mencius, etc I am not trying to push religion. However if the Republicans want to live by the Bible then I feel its ok to judge them by the Bible and the standards that they themselves set.
Why else use the Bible? Because the Bible talks about everything also I want to steal the 20%ers from the Republicans so its either use the Bible or I must use emotionally charged language to get the lizard brains.
Why is the Bible so important to them? because they live by its teachings? If you would be like me give up all of your goods to the poor does not sound like the Republican Party. The Good Samaritan giving a complete stranger Free Healthcare does not sound like the Republican party.
Nope the reason the Bible is so important to the Republicans is because they see the Bible both as a symbol of Authority and a Uniter of their Ingroup the Lizard Brains.
Lizard Brains are people who make choices based on emotion bypassing the logical area of the brain we all do make emotional choices sometimes, the Fight or Flight response for example.
However the Republicans make allot more emotional choices than we do. Why because they are addicted to the Rush/Buzz they get invoking the Negative Emotions and Ingroup Wolfpack Brotherhood against Outgroups/threats. They like a junkie need to be angry, fear, over overindulge in greed, tax cuts. The banking collapse was based on banks greed. The banks desperate for a new high started using Heroin/Gamboling making financing deals with $36 of loans given out for every $1 of collateral the Wallstreet Deal Makers had. The Banking collapse is a junkie hitting rock bottom. Yet still the Junkie Bankers still wants to keep using even they they know they might OD/need another bailout again despite this knowledge they are still using, anyway getting back on Topic:)
The more primitive parts of the brain the Lizard Brain is the part that controls emotions Wolves caring for their pups is an example of Motherhood, Mating Season is an example of Lust, Animals running from fire Fear. Animals have emotions they do feel pain and are Aware that Philosophical argument is over.
The Republicans rule by emotions Us vs Them, We the Ingroup are always right, we scapegoat Outgroups and blame them for everything that goes wrong.

No mention of companies out sourcing jobs no mention of tariffs on Foreign goods to stop the Outsourcing.
Notice that while Bush talked about being a Compassionate Conservative he never showed by action that he was one. If anybody can explain to me what a Compassionate Conservative is please do so in the comments.
The Republicans might talk about Compassion sometimes but its only talk they in practice only use the Negative Emotions Hate, Fear, Greed and Gossip/Lies.
Reagan hate his Black Caddy Driving Chicago Welfare Queen buying Steaks with Welfare Checks Speech was an appeal to Whites who were hurting during the recession. They resented people getting money for not working when they themselves were losing everything and they had jobs.
Notice Reagan did not run on I’ll bring you Jobs like FDR did and put the country to work no he ran on hate.
He could have run on I will put that Welfare Queen to work for her check but he didn’t instead he kept giving the checks. Why because the GOP needs enemies thats why despite 20 years of Republican Presidents since Reagan all running against abortion abortion is still legal.
The Lizards have been strung along for 20 years they have been buying drinks for a girl who never delivers on a night that never ends.
Side note Reagan’s famous Chicago Welfare Queen was a lie she never existed nobody has ever found a Welfare Queen collecting multiple Social Security checks driving a Caddy anywhere! Yet the supposedly Liberal media never calls Reagan a racist Liar who divided the Country. Nope instead he is the Greatest Republican ever.
Reagan could have easily got votes by saying I will put America to work building weapons for our Army which he did say. However notice he could not resist using Hate an emotional Ingroup appeal to Whites with jobs to respond like a wolf pack against the Outgroup African Americans who it was believed were getting welfare. Which they were but there were allot more Whites in America back then Reagan never mentioned that there were also more Whites on Welfare than African Americans.
Bush used 9/11 Fear in his reelection the Terror level suspiciously went up just in time for the election. And everything in that election was all about who would keep us safer the Draft Dodger or the Former Navy Seal.
Thanks to Lies and Gossip From the Swift Vote Vets a Republican Puppet Group created to spread Lies about John Kerry and to be fair Kerry not calling those Liars out. Gossip and a Draft Dodger beat a Navy Seal in a Presidential Election dominated by the idea just which Presidential Candidate would keep America safer.
The lesson from that election the Lefty blogs learned was everytime the Republicans lie research and prove it because the supposedly Liberal Media won’t!
The lesson I feel we should also learn is to use emotional language like Draft Dodger, use the Bible to point out what hypocrites, holier than thou, first to cast the Stone/pull the switch on the electric chair, completely free of sin modern day Pharisees the Republicans are!
Yes we would be using the Republicans own tactics against them. However unlike them we won’t lie like Reagan did about the Welfare Queen. We won’t lie like Bush did about Weapons of Mass Destruction. Why because we don’t need the Negative Emotions we have ideas! We have the Desire to Help People! Who wants National Healthcare like the Good Samaritan we do! Who is sick and tired of fighting a war against people who never attacked us and had no Weapons of Mass Destruction we are! Who wants Solar power to stop Global Warming its us.
When you have ideas and the positive emotions you don’t have to lie.

What else keeps us from lying Comments feel free to point out when you think I’m wrong and or lying! But expect debate a strong honest debate helps inform us as we research our arguments, it sharpen both our minds, and helps unite us by showing us where we stand.
I might not agree with you on everything but if your honest with your facts I will respect your convictions even if I dispute your conclusions.
You can’t have Ingroup Hysteria with another group of people you understand thats why Republicans mock diversity and learning about our enemies. Republicans have to divide us and sow hate to rule.
The Republicans don’t believe that people are inherently good. So its a waste of time to help others this attitude lets them rationalize greed and doing nothing to help the poor.
They always say I gave a bum a fiver once and he went straight to the liquor store instead of getting food. And that one person becomes the excuse for the rest of their lives on why they don’t help.
Get over it some people are good some are evil for the actions of one evil Man you refuse to help an estimated hundreds over a life time?

Here’s my $.02.
I feel that most of 10 Commandments (not all) are good rules to live by. I feel the Golden Rule is a good way to live as well. The Beatitudes say a lot of good things about living and sharing.
Beyond that, the bible is comprised of the writings of a lot of old men interpreted by a lot of other old men and neither group of old men actually has much bearing on life today.
And don’t get me started on the problems with the King James Bible (and all its variants)
I’m not here to push the bible:) As far as the Golden rule is I suggest a small change treat other as they not you would want to be treated. Example I like my Chili Hot some people might not like it that hot so If I have visitors over I should ask or set aside a cooler version.
The bible with all its problems is still a common touchstone in this society ussing the bible to illustrate a point does help people get it.
Republicans talk the bible, but live the cheap bastards almanac. They don’t want to help people if it will cost them a dime. You see they don’t want to have to be their bothers keeper. Pull yourself up from Your boot straps, right after we stole them from You.

I would have much more respect for the bible other than a good book, if one person could tell me who wrote it.
It’s been copied and re-writen so many times through History, can anyone believe that words or meanings weren’t changed to suit who ever was doing the copying.
There are Hardly two preachers that interpret it the same, so it all falls on what one believes.

Jesus was a socialist. He would want everyone to have access to quality health care. Many of these folks use religion like a weapon a shield. They wear little crosses around their necks, repeat Bible versus and then kick the American public in the ass. All the while the tea baggers are out there protecting and celebrating their profits.
You notice the ones who talk religion, morality, conservativism are the worst.
If someone truly believes and has faith, they don’t have to tell everybody about it, because it is in their hearts and minds.

I could go on for pages. I was raised by Christian fundamentalists, but for the most part, when I went to Sunday school, church and bible study back in the 1950s & 1960s, the focus was more on the New Testament, which is all about the “Good News” of being saved by Jesus. Make of that what you will, but the focus was on the alleged teachings of Jesus, which were pretty good and can be summed up more or less by the Golden Rule and the Sermon the Mount.
After I left home, the 700 Club with Jerry Falwell (I believe; I didn’t watch it) and Pat Buchanon reared it’s ugly head, and I watched (mostly from as far away as possible) my family turn from fairly reasonable people into the nasty, selfish, self-serving, narcissistic, victimizing jerks that they are today. They live way beyond their means (which is not what our thrifty parents taught us), and then whine and cry about taxes (which they are mostly not in the higher brackets anyway). They wouldn’t help someone out if they could avoid doing so, because it might mean spending a penny on someone who doesn’t “deserve” it.
The church I went to supported a woman’s right to choose when Roe v. Wade was handed down, and it was hardly even discussed. We were never, ever taught this weird “creationism” stupidity; instead there really was no conflict or argument about evolution. This is all new stuff that my authoritarian, gullible rube family has been willing to swallow hook, line and sinker… but mainly in the name of mamon (if I may Biblical).
The MALES in my family all belong to these Christo-fascist C Street Family “christian businessMEN” off-shoots. It’s all about making money off the backs of someone poorer and more vulnerable, and believe me, it’s all done in the guise that third world people or other poor folk “deserve” their fate because they “worship satan.”
Again, that crap was not taught to us as children. Sure we were taught that it would be “good” to evangelize and bring others to Jeesus, but we were not taught that Jews, for ex, were all going to hell. There was more of a notion of deism (I think that’s the way it goes), rather than theism. In other words, today’s “christians” believe that there is only ONE way to engage in religion, and that is their way. Even if you are a very spiritual and devout Jew, you are going to hell and can forget it. Let’s not get started on Muslims.
anyway, enough for now. My take on it: it’s all about the money, and the ones who are truly evil are Doug Coe (C Street mucky-muck), Pat Buchanon and his ilk. They really have a lot to answer for, and to me, it’s really sad how so-called “christianity” (of this kind) has devolved into something really racist, ugly, brutal, unkind, mean-spirited and nasty. IMHO, it is not at all what Jesus is alleged to be about.
But what I’ve noticed is that these people are mostly quoting the Old Testament, which has always been filled with hatred and an “angry god” (which makes no sense to me). Enough for now. That’s my experience.
And: gawd help us all!
