From the "When I became a Repub, I drank the delusional Kool-aid(tm) at the door":
Sen. Ted Stevens says he is not a convicted felon, at least until the appeal process is over.
"I’ve not been convicted yet," the Alaska Republican insisted Thursday in a meeting with the editorial board of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. "There’s not a black mark by my name yet, until the appeal is over and I am finally convicted, if that happens. If that happens, of course I’ll do what’s right for Alaska and for the Senate … I don’t anticipate it happening, and until it happens I do not have a black mark."

Ted – I think we are going to take up a collection and get you a copy of the latest Websters Unabridged Dictionary so that you have something to read while you are in prison…because you and seemingly every politician in Alaska don’t seem to have a very good basic vocabulary. I think whoever is the Alaska State Commissioner of Education needs to take a good hard look at the language arts component in Alaska public schools.

But the Juries do seem to understand Bribe though!
Conviction over turned on appeal or convicted and Pardoned by Bush but yes you are convicted and until you are pardoned or win an appeal you can’t vote until time served and or probation is done.
Ding, ding, ding..exactamente. Even a 17 year old kid who has been arrested for taking a joy ride in someone else’s car..even if the charges are later dismissed or sealed…still has a record..and Teddy boy..so do you.
So the question becomes, does Bush pardon him in a 3AM Saturday news dump before the election to try and keep another seat in the Senate?
My understanding is he can be elected by the voters to the Senate even if convicted of a felony.
However if Ted loses his appeal then Bush will pardon him hopefully the appeals process can be delayed until after Bush is out of office.
It would take a vote by the Senate after Ted is in Prison to remove him from his Senate Seat in disgrace if he does not resign.
Then the Governor of Alaska would pick a replacement.
That would be Sarah unless Edward Teller a night person at the lake can get her recalled before that.
Or indicted Sarah’s house was built by contractors who gave to her campaign.
Also she billed the state for stuff she shouldn’t have. Can she pick a replacement for Ted under indictment?
I don’t think Sarah can do anything about Ted unless he formally resigns…which is why I think she told him to ‘do the right thing’. She wants to be able to put one of her buddies in there.
Who will last, what, six weeks before the investigations start?
No no no no no no no!
NO!
thanks Toby.
The definition got stuck in the tubes with his internets.
A couple of bobby pins helps with that…
What is the new electoral slogan for Sen. Stevens? Will it be “Vote for Ted Stevens – a man of convictions”?
ding, ding, ding..we have a winnah!!!
The USA should invite Alaska to secede from the union, then invade the place to bring “democracy and freedom ” to the people there, and steal their oil. Why not cut unpatriotic gangstas and criminals like Stevens and Palin right out of the mix.
Perhaps we can get Obama’s Secy. of Education to take over the state’s public education system under “no Child left behind” since the entire state seems to have a language arts deficit.
