Sen. Joe Lieberman, who has been playing footsie with his GOP buddies for some time, has made his most open statement yet that post-election, he will be holding hands with his Conservative colleagues to stop Obama from forwarding anything that resembles progressive legislation.
"Today, in an interview with right-wing radio host Glenn Beck, Lieberman made clear that he firmly opposes Democrats gaining 60 seats in the Senate, saying that the survival of the country is in doubt if Democrats break the filibuster threshold:
BECK: But do you agree that Senator Hatch said to me that if we don’t at least have the firewall of the filibuster in the Senate that in many ways America will not survive?
LIEBERMAN: Well, I hope it’s not like that, but I fear."

(cue music, "Your Cheatin’ Heart") If you can’t recognize that your ‘lovin’ Joe has been cheating on you, Harry — humiliating you in public — I think it’s time that someone sat you down and got you the phone number of a very good divorce lawyer because it’s time to change the locks, lock down the credit cards and the checking account…

I’m feeling particularly malicious today after reading that, Laura — washing is not enough. I have memories of falling off my bike when I was 5 and my mother making a rather aggressive application of a scrub brush to my knees and Joe deserves no less. Of course, I think Harry Reid needs to grow a set of teeth as well – all we can hope for is that we get all the democratic senators we need so that when Joe comes back after the break, there is a note on the door saying, “Joe, we’ve moved your stuff to the basement. (signed) Barak, Joe B. and Harry”
Question: In order to advance a progressive agenda, can President Obama neuter Lieberman and McConnell/GOP obstructionism by implementing executive orders?
You know, I have really negative feelings about the use of the word “neuter’ – it smacks of what people do to their pets when they take them to the vet in order to make them unable to be fertile. But I do get what you mean and I have no idea..someone with more knowledge of congressional stuff would be necessary to handle that.
“Neuter” is used here in a political, not literal sense and I will not take responsibility for your negative feelings.
