Suits for Wall Street from Wall Street Suits on Vimeo.
I know there are a lot of folks out there who take the position that the folks who are doing the job with Occupy Wall Street (and any place else) should be able to dress however they like. I also know that there are folks who believe that their important message has been lost and not taken seriously because…they dress however they like.
This group, Suits for Wall Street takes the position that no one should allow appearance to act as a barrier to the world taking their ideas seriously.
Geronimo did it.
Emma Goldman did it.
Malcolm X did it.
Lincoln did it.
A. Phillip Randolph did it.
They all wore suits and they were all taken seriously. This group is looking for either contributions or people sending them suits; their plan is to show up with a mobile makeover unit (complete with radical barbers, I might add) on October 15th.
If nothing else, theatre requires appropriate costumes.

“Suits for Industry! Suits for the Dead! Suits for Industry!
HI! I’m Joe Beats.
Say, what chance does a deceased returning war veteran have for that good payin’ job, more sugar, and that free Mule we’ve all been dreaming of?
Now take off your Suits.
Now you can see how increased spending opportunities, mean harder work for everyone, and more of it, too! So, do yourself a favor, Joe. Join with millions of your friends and neighbors, and, TAKE OFF YOUR SUITS!
“For INDUSTRY!”
With apologies to Firesign Theatre
But, but..what do I do with my hat and goat?
Beats me. :-)
Not only could this be very fun but there is serious artistic talent in that city and I’d want to see pictures!
Damn your Fats Waller!
Love it.
Goodwill is a great source for inexpensive suits, jackets, etc.
Personally, I’d love to see all of those at Occupy places going shirtless…showing how Wall Street and the politicians have stolen the shirt off of their backs…Oh yes and maybe a few whip marks.
That is really what is going on. Many in the 99% have had the everything including the shirt off their backs taken from them and they have been whipped by the slave masters on Wall Street and in Washington!
The interesting thing is if the media would actually talk to the people most are well spoken and completely understand the issues at hand. It is sad that appearance is a criteria for the message to be heard.
I’m wondering what would have been said about Jesus Christ a peasant…I’m sure a hot bath and clean clothes were not a nightly thing, or even a daily thing. He probably was lucky to have one robe that was never washed with Tide, Downy or Spray ‘N Wash. No Suit Required!
