In our last episode, the Vatican had told US nuns that they’re just spending too much time on the poor. Actually, that is not correct, what the Vatican told them is that because they don’t spend enough time speaking out against abortion, they are not toeing the line of the home office. And Bennie and the Jets have assigned a rather nasty Bishop from Seattle to take over the largest organization of nuns in the US to make sure that they clean up their act.
The nuns, understandably have politely disagreed. On the other hand, one of the groups, Network, also has a rather large bone to pick with Paul Ryan, who has referenced his faith in the budget that he is proposing. Because, as we all know, Jesus was all about ‘show me the money’. The nuns are not happy about THAT, either (ok, to be ‘fair and balanced, there has been some noise from “red shoes central” that Ryan is not exactly being true to the faith on this either, but I digress). So, the nuns have decided that what America needs, right now, is a Road Trip.

We thought the best way to bring an education to our nation about what’s happening here in Washington is if we went on the road and lifted up their work and the consequences they would face if this Republican House budget goes through.

Can the Nuns fight this ?
TCU – I don’t think so. The Roman Catholic church is a hierarchical organization, like the military. The best the nuns can do is politely disagree, try to argue that they are actually in accordance with the Church, and try to stay under the radar.
Are the Nuns going to Rep Ryan’s district people there sure could use some help of course they are Tea baggers so they will blame poor people ( GOP code for dark People) for their problems never mind with all the government farm cash floating around the district on a per capita basis very well might be getting more from the Feds than it pays in tax dollars.
I think there is a link between how much a person gets from the Government and how conservative they are.
So the Nuns will be silenced and I suspect the Nun screening process will be changed to weed out Lefty Nuns in favor of Nazi Nuns.

I wonder if the nuns know that (despite his recent protestations to the contrary) Paul Ryan worships Ayn Rand more than he does Jesus?

This is actually a delightful idea – make him line up at the black board and write “I will not use Jesus as my excuse,” 1000 times. And then they can correct his spelling and hand writing.
I was reading an article yesterday about the original Koch daddy-o being in Russia to do oil business and how it turned him into a fierce anti-Communist and he came back and formed the John Birch Society. And it hit me that Ayn Rand’s experience with what happened to her father’s business in Russia formed her anti-Communist and objectivist philosophy basically was the same deal.

I’m in full support mode for those nuns, even though I attribute their correctness more to their gender and the global need for feminine power, than their religion mission.
I understand how the feminist movement of an earlier generation fell into disfavor (as much as I still support that one too), but we need the new one that is on the horizon. Just witness the progress being made in Africa and South America. Creeps like Paul Ryan just gotta go if there is to be survival, never mind reform.
If John McCain insists on arming someone just to advance his political prestige, I’d suggest arming the nuns.
Somebody (I think it was Boxturtle) pointed out early one morning that while Sauron roused the ents Rome and the Bishop have roused the nuns… Go nuns!
If the nuns protest this in union, they will win this battle. Rome and the bishops can wag their tongues as much as they want, but they’ll take no action against the nuns. The nuns are the best thing they have going in public relations. With the pedophilia thing still out there and about to heat up, they can’t afford another public humiliation. The nuns should continue on with their good works and ignore the corrupt, chauvinist, male hierarchy.
None of the idiot, hack political tools in DeeCee elicits anything like the visceral loathing in me that Paul Ryan manages to conjure up. (Eric Cantor is right up there in the top five, of course, but Ryan definitely takes the prize. A truly diseased, vile, despicable sub-human life form.)
As for that scrivened up piece of legislative drivel that he (preposterously) calls a “budget?” There’s not much question (in my mind, anyway) that it would be laughed out of the most remedial, freshman economics class at “Scabby Elbow Junior College,” right after the instructor scrawled a big red “F” across the title page. “And hey little Paulie: Don’t let the econ textbook hit you in the back of the head on your way out of the building…”

The Nun screening process to eliminate nuns that are Lefty happened in the 70′s when John Paul II came into power. That’s why the overwhelming majority of nuns are over 65! There was a mass exodus from the religious (nuns, brothers and priests) of lefties, social justice advocates, and social liberals, at least in the US, in the 1970′s. One of the results of this was mass closures of Catholic schools across the country and/or the steep increase of tuition in the ones remaining open, as they had to replace their labor force with paid teachers.
