David Plouffe, marketer-in-chief of the Obama campaign and now friend of Organizing for America, sent out the following email today on behalf of Organizing for America (just doing his part to try to spin away the failures of 2009):
Subject: 2010
Date:1/5/2010 9:06:13 A.M. Eastern Standard Time
From: info@anotherfailedpresident.com[Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit.]
So as we wrap up one year and prepare for the next, we want to hear your reflections on our work together in 2009 and how you want OFA to move forward in the new year.
Can you take a minute to fill out our quick survey on what’s next in 2010?
There’s no limit to what we can accomplish this year, if we keep working together.
Can’t wait to get started:
[Link to ofa survey removed] http://my.failedpresident.com/2010
Happy New Year,
David Plouffe
Here’s my response to the survey:
Dear David,
Seriously, you don’t want to hear what I think about Obama’s failures in 2009 – the broken promises, the obvious love for corporations, and then some more broken promises to the people who worked hard to help him get elected.
In 2010, I expect to hear new bullshit slogans.
And I expect to see more of the same from Obama and Democrats, who can’t do what’s best for the American people, or just don’t want to.
There’s no limit to what we can accomplish in 2010, you say? Are you joking? What the fuck happened in 2009?
I’m not interested in working with you anymore.
That’s my response.
How would you respond to Plouffe’s survey?

tRex, is that you???? Kewl! (sounds like your patented snark style)
I did respond, similarly, if perhaps a little more mildly. If they read it, they’ll understand the sentiments are the same.
I enjoy responding to their idiotic tweets, which frequently talk about even better and more change in ’10.
As for “no limit”, you could give these guys a 20-vote margin in the senate and they’d find a way to squander it.
They’d use it to push through entitlement reform to make Wall Street and the rich happy and then pat each other on the back in public and in fundraising emails for having taken on the tough topics of the day in such a brave and historic fashion. I never thought I’d be rooting for the Dems to lose their super majority, but health care has shown that they don’t use it for good and do use it for crap that will hurt me and those like me.
I’d tell them that if they’re really proud of what they did last year, maybe they should try to accomplish less. We’d probably be better off.
Just checked my e-mail. Sure enough, I got one, too. This, despite having told these guys at least three times to drop me from their mailing lists. Oh well.
Meanwhile, here’s my response:
No, no, Cujo. You WANT to remain on their list. They NEED to hear from you.
Please, do it for us!!
I think Mauimom has a point. Also, by staying on the list, we get to 1) hear what these dildoes are up to and 2) it screws up their lists not knowing who supports them and who does. Why not be a progressive “Trojan horse” on the Obama lists? Let their hubris lead them to believe they have far more support than they really do. After all too, Obama acted as a stealth candidate posing and posturing himself as something he never was.
to hell with them. I unsubscribed a month or 2 ago.
the depth of the f’king lies is beyond my patience.
I suspected that barack was just another bought off ivy clintonian sell out – I HOPED I was wrong.
HOPE and 1/2 a buck will get you the newspaper, yawn.
fuck OFA, the only thing they’re ‘organizing’ is obama-bots for rah rah, AND the misguided who are gonna piss away more of their misguided precious time and more of their misguided limited money.
rmm.
It certainly appears I have no choice in the matter, and as I’ve written before, I’m happy to heap abuse on them when they are so pleased with themselves.
I wonder if by responding to these emails the Obama team is going to count the responses as proof they still have the old Obama volunteer network, then of course they will ignore the negative responses.
The Obama administration and Democrats in power have disappointed a lot of people.
They can try to pretend everything is just fine (i.e. count the responses as proof they still have the old network), but ignoring reality (i.e. ignore all the negative responses) will only get them so far.
I never believed Obama would be an effective leader, though I didn’t expect him to embrace so much bullshit and betray his supporters so badly.
Until he and the other Democrats acknowledge how badly they’ve lost their way, they won’t change.
This could take years
I really, really, REALLY want a report from someone on the “inside” analyzing the “responses” they get to these honking e-mails. I’d bet that some huge percentage are of the “fuck you” variety.
Maybe we should debate leaving all the Dem mailing lists?
I’ve had a change of mind about this.
I used to hit “unsubscribe” [usually the only way to get a response through to them] and blast away with some “reasons.” But then, not only is that the last you hear from them, it’s the last they hear from you.
So now what I do is hit “unsubscribe,” leave my message, but type in a fake e-mail address. The e-mail address to which they sent the original annoying piece of crap apparently stays in their system, and I get more opportunities to “share my thoughts.”
But whatever . . .
But do they read them after the first few words? I think that many people can tune out anything a partner says as long as the partner doesn’t leave.
However only if we were all to leave as a group and make a Lefty blog wide effort to get others sick of Obama to leave would we get any likely response.
Likely Rahm trashing us in the Media right after Plouffe reaches out to us, just to keep in in our place.
We need to target people we don’t have the resources to get everyone in the next election but I think getting Harry would send a nice message.
Plouffe is a Political salesman, about thirty steps down from a used car salesman, if possible.
We don’t learn that guys like Him now, and Rove in the past are the salesman for the Presidents, making the clunkers seem like cadilacs.
I keep hearing how Obama hasn’t kept His promises.
Lest we forget G. W. Bush promised to bring the Country together and be a compassionate conservative. He never was compassionate, drove the country furture apart more than ever before, didn’t have a conservative bone in His body, drove us into Debt, two Wars, and both crisis’s we experienced. All on top of making the world hate us, and us hate ourselves.
We are to blame when we expect Politicains promoted by one of the two Political Parties, sold as something their not to us, don’t do as they said they would.
It’s not like Obama was the first Politician we had the choice of electing, or the first that fooled us, and probably won’t be the last.
Bush ran as a conservative who promised to be a uniter, not a divider and once in office fucked the progressives and took care of his base.
Obama ran as a progressive who promised to be a uniter, not a divider and once in office fucked the progressives and screwed his base.
The Obama team thinks lying to themselves that they still have their old internet network is sad. Never mind all the support everyone at the Lake and the Lefty blogs gave and that is gone as well with the exception of some Rahm Trolls at Koz who wonder over to the Lake the Obama team has squat.
But the public perception must be managed at all costs. Never mind how ragged and see through the the veil.
The kind of change you want will only come from a huge replacement movement. I see Dodd and Dorgan are leaving. Good for them and good for us. They were good men with high aspirations for doing good, but they never had the courage to fight for it.
Ha, ha, ha.
Back in 2008, I suggested here McCain might be not so much worse than Obama.
I got trashed. People hated me and wanted me banned. One of the FP-ers suggested seriously that I quit drinking and choose my words carefully.
Ha, ha, ha.
Oh, McCain would have been a douchebag.
But worse than Obama?
Ha, ha, ha.
Fuck. You. Is the only reply I sent.
Nice to see ya TRex.
President obama thinking that this is the dissatisfaction of a few progressive wing nuts is a serious miscalculation. He sold out his country and come 2012 we’re going shopping for a new candidate. When this bill takes effect and people realize what their in for, telling people that change has come to America is adding insult to injury. So take your pie in the sky bullshit and shove it, we don’t believe you anymore. Obama will look back and realize that he got some very bad advice but advice or not he knows that what he is doing is wrong on every level.
I posted this over on Neil’s diary yesterday re responding to Plouffe’s requests for “feedback”:
I wonder when they’re going to stop the cheerleading, the guilt trip blackmails, and the other psychological manipulations and really do something we think is worthwhile. Until they do, no money, no support of any kind and no wasting time on them. They’re a legacy party and the Obama movement is a legacy movement killed by Obama himself. Now, let’s make a new one, and get behind people who will really fight for what we believe in.
Help wanted politicians who know they are and will do what they say they believe in. Clever liars need not apply!
In the words of W., “Fool me once…fool me twice?” Oh, well, never mind. I will be voting Green of Socialist next time. I was a hope dope once for Obama, but never again. Soon I will be a mandated indentured servant of Big Insurance. Also my children, my grandchildren, and my great-grandchildren.
I told them to take me off their mailing list three times! before they did. I guess they had to get bipartisan support then arrive at a consensus, have Harry the Navigator to run it by the Gang of Six or Twelve or whatever, then call in the Administration to ask what David thought and finally to call a summit at the White House to provide a forum for all points of view and lastly to rehearse how best to spin my request and turn it into an opportunity to educate me as how wrong and little minded I am to make said request so that ultimately the Administration can declare my unsubscribing a victory of the Democratic Party!
David doesn’t really want to hear what I think of him or Obama. I’ve had it with the Dems.
Went to my dental hygenist today..(it always amazes me when a black womon is a republican) I couldn’t BELIEVE it when she said the “health” bill is “socialist”. Of course, I contradicted her.
I asked her why pay taxes if you’re not going to get anything for them?…among a few other things I said.
Where DO people get their information?
I can’t even bother to fill out the survey. I can imagine the smirks as they read our starry-eyed ideas of “progress and hope”
bleh
Nothing was delivered
And I tell this truth to you
Not out of spite or anger
But simply because it’s true….
Nothing was delivered
But I can’t say I sympathise
With what your fate is going to be
Yes, after telling all those lies…

Hi ya, hi ya, TRex.
I told them to eat shit and die.
Yo TRex!
That is what I did. Told em I was done with them. Also cancelled my Chase acct. and went to a credit union and got 7% interest on the debit card when Chase doubled my interest rate. Yahoo! I am pretty sure it won’t amount to squat.
I can still call my congress people if I want to
find out somethingrant and that usually does not amount to squat. Half the time they do not know what I am even talking about they are so clueless.Wow, I have not seen you, Trex, for months or is it years? Thanks for the article.
I did an opt-out on OFA a month ago or so, and in my message I informed them that I realised we were snookered by criminals of the highest order and will spend my energy in 2010 helping to defeat them at the ballot box.
I got my 2010 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL NOTICE from the DNC today in the mail.
There’s a nice 2010 membership card that features the image of a smiling Obama and the White House in the background.
There’s a long letter from Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, who insists that “the President knows how to win” (my favorite line in the letter).
And there’s a contribution form and a BUSINESS REPLY MAIL envelope (no postage necessary). I’ll be returning the envelope, empty.
Not empty! Fill it up with other junk mail or rocks or sand and send it back as full as possible. (It is legal.)
Hi tRex!
Hey, TRex, I sincerely hope that’s you. Sure hope you and the koi are fine. And any kitties you may have.
I would tell Plouffe, et al, that I can most certainly wait to get started…for a very long time. Change I can believe in? You must be kidding; what we got was Bush lite, thank you very much. Hey, tell your friends in the administration, don’t call me. I’ll call them, if they ever earn a call, but not to hold their breath. Meanwhile, there’s not a tissue paper’s difference from the last admin to this one, and Obama’s promises aren’t worth the toilet paper they’re written on. So I say thanks, but no thanks.
getting rid of filibuster would be a good start…
If these people try to accomplish any more in 2010 we will all be in trouble. I say abandon ship and let Obama sink. Stay home in 2010. We will be better off in 2012.
I’ll vote, but I’m going to follow PaulaT’s advice in Making sure they get the right message in 2010 and write in Howard Dean for every office for which the Democratic Party has failed to nominate a Democrat (Just Say No to DINOs!).
would love to be reading those survey answers. Put money that there are lots of WTF is up? Make good on your promises made. We are not going to put thousands of free hours in until you do.
Until then stop spinning…we have had it with the hollow words
