Occupy Isms and Groups – Understanding the isms and groups that divide us

By: James Sanders Monday July 30, 2012 3:28 am

Before I start this video, it’s been suggested that Occupy might be floundering, or that there might be some that will not listen to these messages because a viewer might be against Occupy or not support it. I am not here to debate the merits of those comments. Instead, I will leave that to your determination and remind you that Occupy is just the most recent movement, and that is why I reference it in my videos. The reality here is simple, this information could apply to ANY movement. I just reference Occupy because I do support them, and as a frame for the context of the conversation. With that said, onto the meat of the video.

Hello, I am James Sanders, and I’m a new activist. Yes, I realize that sounds like an introduction from one of the 12 step programs, but I feel it applies to what I’m presently thinking as what we’re about to discuss has to do with the tools they use that keep us infighting and segregated into small enough groups for them to manage and control us. As such, the failed realization by the masses concerning this simple fact continues fueling our maladies as a people and a nation. With all the petitions available out there, many of which we’ve all signed, do you not question with such abundant signatures why those petitions fail pushing that change we all need? I know I have. I know I’ve signed far more than I can count yet most of what I’ve signed has resulted in no change as suggested by the petitions signed.

Occupy Awakening the Masses

Something I realized many years ago when a nagging emptiness inside me caused me to start questioning, “I was once willing to give my life as a member of the armed forces..for this?” All around me, I saw good people suffering, good people busting their asses in pursuit of the great American dream, but despite their best attempts, that same dream eluded them. I saw good people. I saw moral people. They were, and still are, credible, hardworking, honest people.

If the great American dream truly still existed, then surely and truly, these noble people should be far better off than they were, but they were, and still are, not better off. How could that be? How could what all my elders taught me, what my teachers suggested, what TV portrayed, and still portrays, not only in shows but commercials too, could people work hard, follow the rules and still fall so far short of that dream supposedly attainable by all? I wrestled and grappled with the thoughts. I wondered around a walking wounded, half asleep citizen for years trying to figure it out. I thought and I thought, a niggling suspicion and splinter just beneath the surface continued eluding me.

Occupy Unity

I stand before you as an ex-member of the United States Navy serving through Desert Shield/Desert Storm. As a supporter of Occupy, and any other endeavor offering hope, and promise of positive real change for all of us, not just the 1% of us. As a fellow citizen, right now, we are living with a failed government therefore a failing nation. In that, I also stand as a brother in arms against tyranny, the police state, and Congress’ betrayal, in concert with the corporations that robbed us of our once great nation. Ever since military service, I’ve remembered my oath, waiting for the time to act. Like you, I realize there are problems with our country. We have realized this for some time now. Like you, I’ve wondered what I could do to help effect positive change restoring our Republic to its once grand splendor. Like you, I’ve wondered how we get our country back.

The largest problems are simple. Throughout our entire lives, we’ve become conditioned to trust authority and officials, military, and policemen, those holding public offices. The Congress has bullied our school system with constantly de-funding them, lowering the level of education for the masses and therefore raising future generations in ignorance instead of understanding. We’ve had trust beaten into us by a government that is untrustworthy.
