Got to disagree with you twolf1; this sums it up for me: “In fact, today’s speech by Barack Obama is one that George W. Bush would have felt ideologically comfortable giving in 2002.” From here.
Our foreign policy is STILL predicated on policing the world where multinational corporations see their interests at risk or threatened. The hegemonic perspective that permeates our foreign policy is well and intact.
And words are just that; neither the ‘real thing’ (just as the word ‘rose’ is not a rose) or an act carried out.
Read this and this and see if you still consider Obama’s speech a ‘new beginning’.
And watch Mosaic and Al-Jazeera English on LINKTV for more perspective.
“A New Beginning” is what the folks on Obama’s staff titled the speech.
Ah, figures; if one can’t convince them with reason, then use bullshit.
Thanks for letting me know it was ‘them’.
I was underwhelmed.
Interesting comment in response to Obama’s speech. The US is threatened with another 911. Funny how he knows that Islam will do it again if Obama doesn’t get the fact that the Arabs suffering is not equal to the Jews. An acknowledgement that Israel was involved in 911?
****************
” MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union): “Obama makes a shocking parallel between the destruction of European Jewry and the suffering that the Arabs of Israel brought upon themselves when they declared war on
Israel.”
MK Eldad: How dare Obama compare Arab refugee suffering to the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust?
“If Obama does not understand the difference between them, perhaps he will understand it better when he visits the Buchenwald concentration camp in the comings days. And if he doesn’t understand it even there, then Islam will once again teach it to him, just as it taught his predecessor on 9/11.”
