The Local ABC affiliate in Washington D.C. reports:
WASHINGTON – A U.S. Capitol Police officer shot a 35-year-old man at New Jersey Avenue NW and C Street NW, blocks from the Capitol, according to law enforcement sources.
It happened just after 5:15 p.m.Robert Drum, a tourist from Edmond, Oklahoma, said he saw a white Mercedes being chased at a high rate of speed by two police cruisers toward a Capitol parking area, where the vehicle crashed into a barricade. That’s when gunfire erupted, witnesses said.
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer said the wounded person was a 35-year-old civilian, who was shot by a U.S. law enforcement agency. Sources say it was U.S. Capitol Police.
A CNN reporter on the scene reports that the suspect has died.

Entrances to U.S. Capitol have been sealed by police.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A shooting occurred near the Capitol, home of the U.S. Congress in Washington, and police have closed a road adjacent to the Senate side of the complex, Capitol Police said on Wednesday.
At least one person was taken to the hospital after the shooting incident, according to local news reports.
Entrances to the Capitol building were temporarily locked on its North side, where the Senate is, but they were later reopened.

Doing anything weird inside the Hill street barriers guarantees a lot of instant nervous attention. If I wanted to do suicide by cop, I’d pick it as the quickest, surest venue.
