Joe Lieberman is at it again. When asked if he would filibuster a health care bill that he doesn’t agree with, he said:
I told Senator Reid that I’m strongly inclined–i haven’t totally decided, but I’m strongly inclined–to vote to proceed to the health care debate, even though I don’t support the bill that he’s bringing together because it’s important that we start the debate on health care reform because I want to vote for health care reform this year. But I also told him that if the bill remains what it is now, I will not be able to support a cloture motion before final passage. Therefore I will try to stop the passage of the bill.
Adding that he would vote against a public option “with an opt-out because it still creates a whole new government entitlement program for which taxpayers will be on the line.”
I’ve told Sen. Reid that if the bill stays as it is now I will vote against cloture.

Poll: support growing for public option
Gosh, the phone in Mr. Lieberman’s office is busy when you choose the option to talk to a live person.
I’ll keep trying.
(202) 224-4041 Then press “2″ when you hear the
fingernails on the chalkboardLieberman’s voice.I think five progressive Senators should now reply by saying to Reid that if the bill lacks a PO they will vote against the cloture he needs to bring the bill to the floor. That should end the 60-vote BS, and get him to turn to reconciliation. Then Joe, Ben, Blanche, and Mary, and some of the others can vote against it if they like and face their voters next time around.
With us on everything but the war…
It’s a big war: war against the uninsured, against consumers, against efforts to hold anyone accountable for war crimes, against women’s rights, against . . .
Isn’t this just SOP for liarman? It’s code for “I’ll get out of the way/sell my vote to the highest bidder. Call me.”
Since when did Lieberman every really care about either taxpayers or his own constituents?
Certainly not the last time he ran for the senate, and lost his primary race. Too bad that Connecticut does not have a “sore losers” law.

Okay, so it is FOX News, so take it with a deposit of salt, but was my degree in political science for naught?
What is the difference between not supporting a cloture motion and a willingness to bring the bill to the floor for debate?
Ah! The lieberweasel. With Guys like this getting re-elected, what chance does this Country have. At least You can trust the true Republicans to outright be the assholes they are. This guy is ogre in sheeps clothing, and people still think He is a good man. While He sticks it to the Countryevery time.
Hey! He might have been a Secritary of State or something if they could have pulled Him out of McCains ass had McCain won.
Whenever I can’t think of anything else to do about some thing or some one, I put it or him or her on Unity’s prayer list (good for a month of 24/7).
I just now did that with Lieberman.
Last time I did something like that (to a public official), it was Karl Rove, not long before the whole Valerie Plame affair began to come to a head.
Hi Karen. Being as tar and feathers is so much out of style, I guess prayers can’t hurt.
With Rove though that’s like praying for the Devil, and the Devil gets very upset with prayer, so maybe not so good an idea.
Lie man is fantastic. There is not question about it now “moderates” are Republicans without the integrity to declare themselves. And all the conservative talk about State’s rights is revealed as bullshit. Reid has an opt-out and they didn’t even slow down. Screw them. Take the opt-out out then. They aren’t voting for it anyway. Does Lie Man and his pack of scum get to decide what options the entire country has for healthcare? Are you kidding me?
Beyond the gratifying picture of conservatives writing FRAUD on their own foreheads this is meaningless. Lie man is not necessary. We do not need the votes to get public health insurance they need the votes to stop US. And with all the false moderates jumping ship there is no reason to water it down at alPr

there are actually two opportunities to filibuster a bill, requiring two different clotures. (cloturi?) the first is an attempt to prevent the bill from even being debated. joe will vote with the democratic caucus on that one. after the debates and such amendments as are thought wise are added, reid will announce a vote, and then there will be another filibuster attempt to prevent the bill from being voted on.
please have everyone you know who supports health care call, fax, or write lieberman’s office (writing is preferred, i think). i hate to get all self righteous here, but as thomas jefferson said, ‘the price of democracy is diligence.’ we all need to saddle up one more time.
This latest one of Lieberman is simply beyond explanation.
It’s hard to believe Joe Lieberman was the Vice Presidential candidate for the Democratic party. Did it just occur to him that the Democratic party has been trying to get a Health Care bill for decades, heck the Dems have for the most part wanted a single payer system, and now Lieberman won’t even tolerate a public option?@#*%!!! Don’t tell me he didn’t understand this was the lifes’ work of Ted Kennedy, but now it’s a “problem” he finds unacceptable……….just astonishing, disheartening, and contemptable. I saw the big insurance companies had a banner day in the stock market shortly after Liebermans’ announcement, hope he’s “proud” that he has made his real “constituents” so pleeeeaased. Isn’t there a REAL Democrat that hasn’t been bought by the insurance and defense companies, that can replace this disappointing person in Conn. ????????
Lieberman was elected by Republicans. Lieberman lost the Democratic Primary to Ned Lamont. Lamont was the Democratic Candidate in the General Election.
After being defeated as a Democrat in the Primary, Joe Lieberman then created his own Party – the Connecticut For Lieberman Party. Connecticut Republicans shunned their own candidate and voted en masse for Lieberliar.
Why did Senate Democrats and others like Bill Clinton continue to support the creep Joe Lieberman after he lost his own primary? Why did Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Harry Reid support Lieberman then? How can Liebercreep be called a Democrat? He is not. Why did Harry Reid allow Liebercreep to retain his chairmanship of Homeland Security – even after Lieberman had been a miserable failure in that position – encouraging corruption and no-bid contracts for Dick Cheney and letting New Orleans drown?
A few months back Joe Lieberman was being his two-sided little self and aggravating everyone. It was reported that Actor Alec Baldwin, who was fed up with Lieberman, jokingly said he felt like running against him. Contact Alec and ask him to quit joking — please run.
MY GOD WHY IS SENATOR LIEBERMAN BEING ALOUD TO CAUCUS WITH THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. ALSO TAKE AWAY HIS CHAIRMANSHIP NOW. I SAY TAKE HIKE JOE. I SAY SENATOR LIEBERMAN IF YOU PLAN TO F##k THE AMERICAN PEOPLE A LEAST KISS US FIRST.
The good senator from Conn., if he is such a fiscal conservative, never seemed to miss a beat as we continue to dole out “defecit dollars” to the keep General Dynamics and other defense contractors profiting from our misguided military ventures.
Hey Lieberman- where do you get your health insurance from? Are you covered by the Federal government via your Senate job? So the public option is ok for you but not the rest of us? You are nothing more than a paid asset on the books of all the insurance companies headquartered in your state. Run again and I will move to Connecticut just to vote against you.
