Both Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart took on Joe Lieberman’s latest back-stabbing maneuver of threatening to filibuster any public option health care reform bill with the Republicans.
First up, Jon Stewart:
“You know what’s worse than being sick and not having health insurance? Having to sit through the Lieberman filibuster that kept it from you.”
Now Stephen Colbert’s turn:
“Remember, Joe’s party is Connecticut for Lieberman, not Lieberman for Connecticut.”

Thank God for John Stewart and Stephan Colbert,
when we do not cry for a nation held hostage by corporate contributions, we can at least get a good hearty laugh

Finally Jon Stewart addressing the I/P conflict. This has been a long long time coming form someone who has focused on many other injustices on his program. But has steered clear of this issue

Daily Show’ heckler a sign that some are afraid of change. Tell Jon Stewart you’re not.

Anna Baltzer tells me that The Daily Show’s staff said last night’s heckler was their first in 11 years on the air. Wow. I thought Dr. Barghouti’s response to the interruption was brilliant:
I’m trying to imagine a tipping point where, just as they have with other programming, HBO, the Comedy Network, and other premium cable channels, take over the news, too, hiring as many of the super-smart comedians as they can.
