Let’s just say Pelosi can’t get the votes. Will Obama go with what Jane says is ‘Plan B’?
I don’t know but since the House has already sent the Senate an HCR bill with a public option in it AND you have 50 Senators willing to support a public option, why wouldn’t Obama ‘whip’ to have the Senate pass the House bill?
The only answer I can come up with is his desire to honor the backroom deals that were cut with AHIP and pHarma. Anyone else got a rationalization for Obama’s insistence on the Senate bill?
Personally, I’d rather see ‘Plan B’ than what is currently being considered and I think most citizens would also.

He would have a Stupak problem if he did have the Senate pass the House bill, which would be a problem for many. However, since he is okay with pressuring the House to give in to Stupak in this round anyway, it probably wouldn’t matter to him. Unlike women’s rights, though, keeping the public option out really does matter to him, so the House bill will not be passed as is.
Then Plan B it should be.
But there are no mandates in Plan B. Won’t somebody think about the poor insurance companies and their need for mandates? There are CEO’s out there who have payments due on their mansions and yachts and the healthier peasants are deciding it’s worth it to take a chance on dropping their insurance coverage. Do you want the Hamptons to start looking like Detroit? We can’t have that!
Well, we could take to the streets to loudly proclaim that it was our hard work that stopped this bad bill, it’s every bit as true as what the Republicans will be be saying at every opportunity, on our TVs for the next three years.
Plan B is good by me. It’s incremental, but in the right direction, and we can come back soon for Medicare expansions.
Don’t tease me. You guys know this thing is going to pass regardless of how many spineless liberals (Kucinich) he has to break. After all he delayed his Far East trip and when Daddy stays home, he creates “pressure” on people.
I hope it doesn’t pass, but if Congress is going to do one thing this year, it is going to be pass a bill that ensures that insurance companies will be very profitable in the decades to come.
Anyways, I’m sure first thing they get done passing this bill, they’ll start on the amendments… lol.
