Congratulations are in order, as Firedoglake has been shown to be the third most influencial progressive blog according to the recent poll sponsored by AlterNet.
Lord knows progressives need all the influence they can get and who better to provide that service than the good folks here at Firedoglake.
Congratulations to Firedoglake!!! |

Yes, FDL did well in that poll. What I can’t understand is why Jane was not voted higher. How can her blog do so well, but she is relatively overlooked. Needless to say, she was at the top of my list.
That’s great!
Though the list sounds a little suspect, I’m not sure how Ezra Klein’s blog is more influential than Krugman’s.
Kudo’s to FDL yes!
But those other results are hardly the stuff progressives and progressive issues are based on.
What a crock of shit, from Maddow thru Orange Satan and HuffPo . . . . proggy to their masters maybe.
I’d take any ONE segment from Amy Goodman and Dem Now! over a lifetime of any of the others with the exception of Bill Moyers.
That poll in and of itself is a gross mislabeling of all things proggy.
Harumph.
Firedoglake is the best left leaning blog I’ve found that allows people to discuss and criticize the Democratic Party without taking a protect the status quo stance and let’s pretend people have no other option. A person can discuss here and go WHEREVER THE TRUTH LEADS THEM. If something was abhorrant under Bush, it’s still abhorrant under Obama. This is one of the very, very few sites that does not suffer cognitive dissonance. People dislike Firedoglake for the same reason they dislike Glenn Greenwald – consistency of ethos, regardless of who is in power.
And how those some other blogs HATE Firedoglake! Firebaggers is the favored pejorative. Did you know that Jane Hamsher once signed the same petition as Grover Norquist? Seriously, Did you know that? You can’t quote Jane Hamsher or Firedoglake or anyone who posts on Firedoglake ever again for eternity because of that.
This website is very different from the larger Dem blogs who actively try to protect the Dems and President Obama from overly accurate criticisms.
Sidenote, I’m not even sure Daily Kos is political anymore. They sure don’t discuss policy – they seem to be trying to evolve more into a social networking site and avoid the whole ugly political discussions entirely unless they involve Republican bashing which is shooting fish in a barrel nowadays. Hey! What about the crap our guys are doing? Good luck finding any discussion of that.
Long live Firedoglake for it’s non-sufferance of Dems for Dems sake and it’s willingness to lead in forging a new Progressive frontier.
I also have to say that the reporting of David Dayan is a nonpareil for many major newspapers and blogs. MERS, Foreclosure Fraud, the corruption on Wall Street, and other topics have been covered better here than most mainstream media. The citizen coverage on My FDL also put a lot of places to shame.
I am very, very proud to be a participant on FDL.
It means FDL is cutting through the noise Larue, it’s cutting through the noise.
If you’re in the top three it means your message cannot be silenced.
Things are looking up.
“Did you know that Jane Hamsher once signed the same petition as Grover Norquist?”
Yes I did, and I agree with everything you said, including how proud you are to participate, and that shooting fish in a barrel is not really sport.
Thanks for your comments.

I think there’s truth to this. Otherwise, why all the paid trolls and the SPAM? :-)
Any poll where DK comes out as the top progressive blog is not polling actual progressives. DK is a Democratic tool to co-opt potential progressives.
I see your point, but I believe it’s just an indication of how much work remains to be done.
There is a tremendous amout of inertia to be overcome as relates to what you could call PINOs*, that’s true, but I also believe that the tide is with us, and I’ll take my good news where I can find it.
*Progressive In Name Only
You’re right. It’s just a shame to see this kind of thing posted on AlterNet. I would like to think we could expect more from them.
There are some very smart, funny, good hearted people running this, and quite a few more such people posting their own thoughts.
” If something was abhorrant under Bush, it’s still abhorrant under Obama.”
seems straightforward.
Now if only they’ll have the courage to support third party candidates in 2011 and 2012. I’ve liked what they’ve been doing with non-electoral stuff (their journalism and marijuana projects, for instance), but it’s time to completely break free of the parasitic Democrats.
This is the general sentiment I see in the comments here and I think they are really considering making this move. Help us hold FDL accountable to the community belief that we need to go that way.
