That’s right, ya suckers. ‘Fool me once, shame on you…yada, yada…’ (Cue the Dubya gaffe; same day, different actors)
The Christian Science Monitor is reporting that the P5+1 pulled the rug from under any hopes that Saeed Jalil and Yukiya Amano had announced only two days ago that an accord could be reached over Iranian nuclear issues.
The P5=1 Offer:
“Ms. Ashton, speaking on behalf of the P5+1 group (the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany) laid out the proposal to Iran’s chief negotiator Saeed Jalili in the first session of the talks in Baghdad today.
The P5+1 offer requires Iran to comply with UN Security Council resolutions and “immediately” halt uranium enrichment to 20 percent – a level not technically far from weapons-grade of 90 percent – and to ship its stockpile out of the country, according to the Iranian diplomat.
“We are ready to have a compromise on that [20 percent enrichment], as long as it is a step-by-step process,” says the diplomat.
But suspending all enrichment – including the lowest levels for reactor fuel – is a red line that Iran says it will never accept. Officials frequently cite Iran’s “right” to enrich as a signatory of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT).
The P5+1 offer also wants Iran to shut down its Fordow enrichment facility, which is buried under a mountain and is under safeguard by United Nations nuclear agency inspectors, but impregnable from US or Israeli attack. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency called the package “outdated, not comprehensive, and unbalanced.”
And what carrots do the representatives of The Most Powerful Nations in the World offer in exchange? Er…well..no relief on sanctions whatsoever, neither those that have targeted Iran’s central bank, SWIFT access, and exports of oil.
An unnamed Iranian diplomat was quoted as saying:
“This is what we were afraid of. No one is going to accept these things this way. The 20 percent and shutting down Fordow, in return for nothing? Nothing?”
Yeah, ‘such a deal’, as Mr. wendydavis said after I fumed and ranted over it this mornin’. Just like our American Indian policy has always been: “You do what we say: this is our land now, ya lousy heathens. You sign treaties so we’ll stop killing you; THEN we’ll break the treaties…and kill more of you and keep our land. Got it?”
All of which again proves that The Powers don’t want to make a deal; they’re after regime change and total capitulation, OR ELSE. And it seems we know what the OR ELSE is.
We all remember the deal that Turkey and Brazil had arranged a couple years ago after having okayed the diplomatic efforts. But oopsie, once there was a step toward a materiel swap solution, the Hillary Hawk pulled the rug outta that jig quick. Thanks, Hill; we know where your heart really lies. (If you’re interested, I ran into this correspondence between President Lula and Obama over the issue.)
So it was no surprise that another Iranian official pretty much said, ‘why bother coming back for more talks? Unless ya sweeten the pot, screw it’.
But, Lady Catherine Ashton’s spokesman said, in effect: ‘Oh, they might come back once more draconian sanctions are in place in July’.
Yeah, don’t look now, but hardly any Democrats voted against this next round of sanctions and threats to Iran. Wow; how ironic. Haven’t we been down this road before with ‘peace-loving Dems’?
It’s a Beautiful World, isn’t it? But not for you or me.

Rec’d, wendy. I am shocked, I tell you, SHOCKED! about this turn of events, given my certainty that the US always negotiates in good faith with its “heads we win, tails you lose” strategy. I suppose those nukes we are “allowed” to have are about the only reason anyone ever even comes to the table.
I love the photo. We used to get hawks in our yard because we fed too many smaller birds. We could always tell when one had swooped in because the sparrows would all hide in the orange tree and make a sound that I swear sounded like “hawk! hawk! hawk!”
The national interest is an aristocratic dissimulation, a means to assign the crimes of the predatory to the population.
Will God spare us the National Security conmen?

Eh, duplicity, diplomacy…
what’s the diff?
Nothing from nothing leaves nothing. Ya gotta have somethin’ if ya wanna be with me. Worth checking out for the fros alone.
“What were you giving away in that room?”
“Spirit”
Having spent my adolescence in the 70′s, I feel totally comfortable saying, “Right on man.”
Yeah; I love the sharpies, and it always kills me that ‘birders’ get all flipped out when they feed (everybody’s gotta make a living. Around here, ya gotta appreciate even the carrion-eaters. There’s a dead yearling fawn nearby that the turkey vultures are ‘cleaning up’. And…er…I’d just retitled the photo before I saw there were comments, lol!
Shocking: yes; I was remembering how many times the US totally sold out the Kurds in Iraq. Same thing: ‘Fool me once…’
It’s the new name for the same old strategy: ‘Sticks, Stones and Clubs or Bombs!’
Arrrghh. It’s a beautiful world.
Thanks, Ludwig; had to look up ‘dissimulation’; had forgotten the word. Something like ‘attempting to discreetly hide inconvenient truth’. Well, that’s just it, and thanks again for that.
Apparently God won’t, so it’s up to us to spare ourselves from them, eh wot?
Thanks for stopping by, Doremus.
Well, only difference I know is that ‘diplomacy’ now also includes weapons sales, often over caviar and cognac, but it’s patriotic: Defense contractors trickle down jobs and increase the national GDP; it’s all good.
For them. But not for me or thee.
Language fails you.
Damn, that was gr8! Remember when he played with da Beatles? Hard loss, his death.
Bread day; gotta go get the dough ready to proof; be back in a bit. ;o)
In my defense, I wuz echoing the Devo above. ;o)
“God” wills it not, because that’s not his calling.
The bourgeoisie have betrayed the faith, their polyarchy coming to the same cynical conclusion as their nemesis, monarchy. Progress shoots lifeless from talking ape mouths and their revolution recurs.
But is it wisdom to profess the eternal failure of revolution? Or rather the result of compromising stipend?
I’ll try to respond to the rest in a bit, but I just bipped back cuz this just came on my RealPlayer; seemed propinquitous.
Er…reading again…if I can suss out yer menaing, lol!
Right on, I’m a child of the 70s too. :)
Thanks for the informative post, Wendy, and recc’d. Seems to me that the question is no longer “Will there be war with Iran?” but “When will we go to war with Iran.”
I suppose that depends on what the polls look like after Labor Day. Romney up? WAR! Don’t change Commanders-in-Chief in the middle of a war! Of course, Romney would just wave the flag even harder than Obomba. Obama up? Wait for the holiday season when no one’s paying attention.
I see only one way there WON’T be war. If Iran actually tests a nuclear weapon, like North Korea did. Then it’s welcome to the club of Mutually Assured Destruction, the same successful doctrine that allowed me to live long enough to type this.
Harrison’s Lord is a better one than most, but he chose Him. Isn’t that a contradiction? Or are all Lords above lords the same refuge from those incarnate?
The talking apes fail language.
Are you a nuclear profiteer as well?
It was indeed a delicious experience.
Thanks and of course recommended.
Remember when I put this video up on a diary awhile back and took not a small amount if shit for it? It just slays me; never liked disco, but this stands in a class on its own (pace, Donna Summer. ;o)
Thanks wendy. Recommended. Basically it’s my way or the highway diplomacy.
@Ludwig May 24th, 2012 at 8:20 am
“Progress shoots lifeless from talking ape mouths and their revolution recurs.
But is it wisdom to profess the eternal failure of revolution? Or rather the result of compromising stipend?” Name the players for me/us?
@18 Dunno much about religions or deities, Ludwig, nor who George was later in life. Guess within certain boundaries, I don’t mind folks giving some nod to gods or creators. I ballast the atheist side, but I don’t even care enough to formalize it, and I do like to say prayers of gratitude to something larger than I am before I sleep. So…you got me, babe.
I may have been dissimulating a bit, but…okay. ;o)
Welcome, psalongo, and yep: Highway 61, I reckon.
“Oh God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son”
Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on”
God say, “No.” Abe say, “What ?”
God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin’ you better run”
Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done ?”
God says. “Out on Highway 61″.
The players would be the idiot capitalist Dr. Panglosses.
Somehow I missed that video and the diary, but it is priceless. “We’re off our meds, we’re watching TED” was but one of my favorite lyrics.
Might be getting closer to ‘divining’ (lol!) your meaning, Ludwig, if you are heading to the place where the Oligarchs are so full of the sort of tunnel-vision-with-$$$-and-Power! at the end that they think this will bring a happy outcome.
(BoxTurtle was aiming to school me on that dearth of imagination |absolute| thinking, if one can call it that.)
Mine, too, hfc; without broken knees I mightta tried an impromptu Hustle, to boot!
Gotta go water the garden; I.Shall.Return.if.the.buzzards.don’t.get.me.first.
Don’t forgit, gun-slingin’.
How anybody can look at the picture of our Secretary of State and our military sock-puppet in chief watching the bin Laden – old man on dialysis – gangsta-style “heroic” murder, and not see a couple of paid actors sitting in those chairs is mind-boggling.
Who the fuck is running this show?
That would be the obvious, comrade. I point, as usual, to all their bullshitting compradors.
Heh, I was just talking about this very issue a couple of days ago with a…. shall we say Isreali supporter lol.
Yeah, our diplomacy skills are… what’s the word I’m looking for…. fershit. That’ll do.
This guy was saying whenever Iran does something good, then in return we do MORE sanctions. And apparently, this is how the whole US/Israel diplomatic corps works too.
Yeah, that’s a good plan. Try to get a foriegn soveriegn government to change it’s behavior through diplomacy, and whenever they move in the right direction, hit ‘em with the stick harder!!!!!
What could go wrong with that???
This is the kind of diplomacy you get, it seems to me, when what you really want is war/regime change anyway. THAT’s your real goal, not getting them to change behavior.
God this country is run by stupid assholes.
Thanks for digging that debacle up hotdog. (Even got to see a headline smearing Wm. Jefferson Clinton’s glorious fundraiser as ‘Crap’. The King of Crap Shysters, imo.
Who’s running this show? IS SOMEONE RUNNING IT, or is just just a nightmare driven by all the bits from global profiteers piecemeal? I can’t sort it through. There is, for instance, no coherent foreign policy from this administration. Mind-fucking free-for-all. Heh: another definition of anarchy might be Wall Street, the security state and ‘defense’ sectors having their way with no interference by ‘government’.
Sorry, just trippin’ out here. It was more fun in the garden with the buzzards lookin’ me over, sniffin’ to see if I smelled more delectable than the dead fawn… Don’t mine dyin’ so much, but bein’ et by things that ugly…seems harsh. ;o)
Edited to add: Speaking of bin Laden hideosity (made up word), Anthony Freda sent me this back in the day. Pretty in-your-face stuff; he was pissed to the nth degree, as many of us were, but…here it is. You’ll catch the allusion…
LOL! Well, just for you, I’ll try to up my game a notch or two next time. ;o)
Yep, you said it right, OldFatGuy.
And they’re not only assholes, they have their heads up them, too; neat trick, methinks.
“I may have been dissimulating a bit, but…okay. ;o)”
Ah, dissimulating.
You mean like this:
“On a hot summer night would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Will he offer me his mouth?
Yes!
Would he offer me his teeth?
Yes!
Will he offer me his jaws?
Yes!
Will he offer me his hunger?
Yessss-
Again, will he offer me his hunger?
YES!
And will he starve without me?
Yees-
And does he love me?
Yees-
Yes?
On a hot summer night would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Yes-
I bet you say that to all of the boys.”
:>)
I’ll be waiting, sweetheart.

ROTFLMAO!
Given my brain, you may have a longer wait than ya’d like. Ah’ll try ta remember to put an en.cy.clo.pedia under my pillow tonight!
Meanwhile, simmer down, and listen to Tweeter. I’ll go chase Swallowtails…
Took my two rambunctious dogs for a hike a couple of years ago. They’re lab mixes, sisters. About a mile in, I heard the familiar “I’ve got something on the run!” yips. By the time I got to the scene in the underbrush in the crook of the hill, I knew I was too late. I picked up the poor little ragged body of a fawn whose heartbeat I could feel beating agains my own chest and started jogging back down the trail to get it to a vet. Before I could get to the car, the heart stopped beating. I laid the poor thing on the side of the overlook with the knowledge the buzzards would probably get it before the rangers did. I wonder how terribly that event scarred its mother for the rest of her life. I know it scarred me. My dogs, not so much.
I can pull a rabbit out of a hat,
I can pull it out, but I can’t put it back.
I am on simmer, comrade.
Nice echo with the Zevon, hotdog.
As for Mama Doe, I think they learn to live with loss from what I’ve seen; though in many places predators are fewer, and that’s a bad thing, imo. Here it meant they wiped out the wolves, then then the herds weren’t culled by natural selection, had to be ‘managed’ by the DOW, which…has to generate it’s own income, so their policies on granting hunting license numbers are suspect. And bears: forget it; it’s all political as hell. Who the fuck would bait and shoot a bear, anyway? Beyond me. More assholery.
And here, again, Mama Does kick the shit outta their older fawns to compete for the apples we give them. The animal world can seem barbaric by human standards, as in: male lions eat their own young. Not pretty, but…just so. ;o(
I hear ya, Ludwig. Though I travel between inspired wonder/hope for a nonviolent revolution, fury, acceptance…and humor. Some days all ya have left is laughter, and I can find it both in the ‘real world’ politics and real life. Cuz I have to, I guess.
Oh, and some days, I wish I had this self-same Rocket Launcher. ;o)
“I don’t believe in” Bruce’s method, but I like his heat.
That’s why progressives always lose-we wish for a rocket launcher, but forget to wish for any rockets. (eye roll) Nevertheless, I’m starting to get the impression you may be one of those “troublemakers” I’ve heard about. I’m going to keep a close eye on you from now on, little ms. wendydavis.
I’m recommending this without admitting that I read it.
Thanks; I’d been having a song running around thru my mind and just couldn’t remember the name of the band; now I do remember.
Oh, to have Dylan’s muse. :->)
It’s a daydream, humor, satire, Ludwig! A thought-crime now, but still…I love it, and Bruce. One of the best songwriters and guitarists ever.
Thank you; I try to be both a burr under the MOTU’s saddle blankets as well as extremely *Inconvenient*, as promised. (Hint: asterisks=hyperlinks).
Ah haven’t always been the shrinking violet that Ah am now, deah. ;o)
When Homeland Security comes to yer door, you just keep tellin’ em that, sweetie. “Never read a word; just loved her for her great fashion sense and encyclopedic knowledge of rock music; I swear!”: this, maintaining Plausible Deniabilty about rec’ing the diary wnedydavis penned that constituted ‘support for the Iranian Regime’, earning her a trip to Gitmo.
But be sure to tell Janet, et.al. that wendydavis IS a Universal Free Life minister, will ya, huh, while the rest of the Asleep Americans continue as Somnambulist Boiling Frogs. ‘First they came for the frogs…’
Welcome; I had one haunting me that (thanks be to teh google) I discovered was early Elton John. ;o)
Do you hear that droning sound?
Shoot; I thought it wuz the buzzards circlin’ me again. Gotta up mah game in several areas, I guess.
Off for some sleep; see ya soon, darlin’ dear. Keep me laughin’. Oopsie; hope Obey and ah are still friends when he comes back from his trip, lol!
Meanwhile: think of Swallowtails….
Bad bargaining to be sure – even though it seems right to tell the thief to go to hell when he asks for a $100 after telling you he will put his gun in his pocket if you put yours in your pocket, it may be a wiser course to offer him $10.
And then slap him with less visible sanctions that do not have your finger prints all over them.
Mahalo, wendy…! As ex-AIPAC employee MJ Rosenberg wrote recently…
…There is a fundamental absurdity hanging over negotiations with Iran, and I fear it could doom the whole enterprise.
It is the position of AIPAC as adopted by the Congress of the United States. This president is likely to only go as far as AIPAC (or the Israel lobby at large) will permit him to go. Given that the Iranian government is aware of that fact and given that it knows that the lobby has been agitating for war for a decade, it can hardly be a surprise that Iran is not particularly responsive to our demands. It understands that the U.S. demands are AIPAC’s (ultimately Prime Minister Netanyahu’s) demands and it knows that there will be no satisfying them.
There are so many ironies here, the first being that AIPAC (and the Congress that is under its sway) is far more hawkish than the Israeli military and intelligence communities, not to mention the Israeli public.
As for the U.S. military, it is well-known that it opposes war much like President George W. Bush, who refused to give Israel permission to attack because he feared the consequences…
…The Israel lobby is the cloud hanging over the Iran talks. Even today, as the Iran talks reconvene, three Senate lobby stalwarts — Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John McCain (R-AZ) — have an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal demanding that the Obama administration accept nothing less than zero uranium enrichment by the Iranians, even though that train left the station a long time ago. That is, of course, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s position, one designed to sabotage talks, not to advance them…
An irony on one level of awareness lacks information on another.
AIPAC would be in trouble if those Christian Idiots didn’t confuse Persians with Muslims.
No kidding…! 8-(
Groups Concerned Over Arming Of Domestic Drones…
…The Federal Aviation Administration has allowed several police departments to use drones across the U.S. They are controlled from a remote location and use infrared sensors and high-resolution cameras.
Chief Deputy Randy McDaniel of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas told The Daily that his department is considering using rubber bullets and tear gas on its drone.
“Those are things that law enforcement utilizes day in and day out and in certain situations it might be advantageous to have this type of system on the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle),” McDaniel told The Daily.
The use of potential force from drones has raised the ire of the American Civil Liberties Union.
“It’s simply not appropriate to use any of force, lethal or non-lethal, on a drone,” Catherine Crump, staff attorney for the ACLU, told CBSDC.
AIPAC would be in trouble if those Christian Idiots didn’t confuse Persians with Muslims.
You meant Arabs, many Persians are Muslim and Iran is in fact an Islamic republic…! ;-)
Clearly they want it known whose fingerprints are on them, no?
Hey, it’s “advantageous.” Move along.
I dunno, Tuttle; I really thought Jalil, et.al. seemed sincere. I couldn’t figure out Amano, though, going either waaaay off-script, or just buying time. Haven’t heard from him in this next step, or his he just in the wings countin’ his bakshseesh?
Almost wish I had some of your MJ-love, but he also wrote at TPM’s Cafe when I did, and at least at the time, he sure could go off half-cocked. I have read some of his stuff at Al Jajeera that was…more adult, let’s say. Perhaps one day he’ll convince me of it. ;o)
So nice to see ya, pardner. ;o)
LOL! But Tuttle! Says right here that they’re only for criminal activity!
“We’ve never gone into surveillance for sake of surveillance unless there is criminal activity afoot,” McDaniel told The Daily. “Just to see what you’re doing in your backyard pool — we don’t care.”
But poor Deputy Chief McDaniel gives it away: he’s picturing spying some hanky-panky goin’ on…Ah… Drone Dreams….
TOTAL INFORMATION AWARENESS IS A REALITY IN THE US NOW. Well, a few more cameras on every street corner, and we’re there. Crazy that the Brits don’t seemed to mind it; baffling. What’s wrong with us?
I’m not a huge MJ fan, wendy…! I do like some of what he has writen, tho…! ;-)
I did slip there, but it is also true that Persians value their pre-Muslim heritage highly and, I suspect, see Islam as an imposition.
That might even be more threatening to monotheist demagogues.
Btw, Dday has a great article up on the Mothership… Iran-West Nuclear Negotiations Will Continue in June…
> in certain situations it might be advantageous to have this
> type of system on the UAV
Meaning, “in every situation.” Since pigs can’t fly.
Since no one else ever mentions this, I thought it worth a side note to the discussion. Just to add a different perspective. Or SOME perspective, anyway.
Where are the NP Treaty monkeys now, and where were they THEN, when we decided to go around the entire treaty to provide India with nuclear infrastructure and materials a few years back?
<>
Well, it wasn’t gonna be a deal-breaker ‘er nothin’, dear. ;o)
Interesting take, interesting comments by ‘Lady’ Ashton, eh? Guess we’ll see. Didn’t know that the oil was not as huge a deal as Westerners often count it, though. But I have read that it would take a hell of a lot of sunken ships to close the Straits of Hormuz. Oh, God; this is crazy talk!
Hmmm. The Wiki says they started their program thru the ‘Atoms for Peace’ program in 1950, courtesy of Canada and the US, then they ran with it from there. Please say what you know about recent acquisitions; I either never knew, or have forgotten.
I continue to muse that no one wants to help broker some deal with India and Pakistan over Kashmir, either. Likely a thankless, possible futile endeavor, but still.
Here ya go
http://www.armscontrol.org/pressroom/2007/20070803_IndiaUS
Not to argue, but the truth is out there, and the US never seems to deal from reality and equity in this arena. Memories appear to be short everywhere.
Had to scan for now, but the final two graphs seem to say it all. But over how many issues does the US and international community (most often deferring to the Sole Superpower, disregard legislation, treaties and accords?
There is no longer any consideration to the Rule of Law, and the US totally skirts any existing international law with impunity. World Court? For suckers; no one’s gonna prosecute us!
Thanks, glad to have access to this for a closer look, ackack.
North Korea normally gets millions in food, fuel etc and they always break their agreements but Iran gets nothing?
We seem to want a war but Iran has every right to have nuclear power. Another illegal war is just what we need to restore our standing internationally. /s
Democrats are fucking worthless.
DD (via Lady Ashton) has a somewhat different take on the front page, things.
Can’t even think total acquiescence would work now.
There was news about Kim Jong Un and nukes this week, but I neglected to click the piece open. So many ways to swivel our heads these days; it’s hard to keep up.
A potential mushroom cloud and/or Al-Qaeda agent around every corner, eh…? 8-(
Answer to your question? Uh,always, pretty much.
Sadly
Succinct analysis, PhilK.
Rec the comment. ;o)
I don’t think America ever wanted it to work:(
Well, dear; have a laugh on me; some days…that’s what left. not sure yet I’ll read yer dead man walking piece tonight yet. (Dakine says it’s Tommy Chong’s birthday, so I put up my fave. It slays me silly.) ;o)
DWBartoo often makes the case that one day soon the world will turn against the US, and spell out the end to War Everlasting. I’m hoping revolution comes first; his way seems way down the line, but…know one knows the future.
That seems to be the prevailing view on this thread and others. DD quotes Juan Cole as saying these negotiations may just moot war; I can’t see it, if this administration is as tied to AIPAC as most seem to believe, and much evidence of US support, both in arms, boatloads of money, and a failure to chastise the administration in any but wink, wink ways.
Obama and Bibi not liking each other seems to matter not. But I swear, some part of me can’t truly grasp the fact that any of these asshats would start WWIII. BoxTurtle says they don’t calculate it that way, or see their plans as failing in that direction, which, if true, might explain it.
No doubt…! Neocons Assail Possible Compromise on Iran Talks…
And then Foreign Policy mag ran this lovely coverpage…
<a href="Barack O'Romney…
Ignore what the candidates say they’ll do differently on foreign policy. They’re basically the same man…
*aargh* http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2012/05/23/barack_oromney
Wendy, would ya be a dear and clean up my mess @84…! ;-)
*hugz*
Boy, howdy, is this embarrassing: I forget how; I remember someone showing us a way to even delete them. Looked all over the Edit page, didn’t find any clues.
Say how, I will, at least if I’m still awake; if not, I’ll change it tomorrow if ya tell me how. But my stars, it’s fine that ya blew a link. ;o)
…X 2
Is now proceeding for Tehran like the American TV game show with the 3 doors ( may have been more than one TV game show that used this gimmick ) from which to pick.
Iran is not going to be given anything other than the same thing behind all three doors. Pentagon/CIA like to pick on/attack small nations with no atomic weapons ( Pakistan being an exception ) being it is easy to pull off Total Air War Superiority and from there send in the occupation/garrison troops. Tehran is the itch WashingtonDC has wanted to scratch since 1979. WashingtonDC cannot put the Shah back on the Persian/Peacock Throne but it surely is not going to let the Iranians keep out of WashingtonDC’s Circle of Influence and Interests on Iranian terms. The Persian Gulf these days should be called The Americans Gulf. The Americans have long history of hammering down “nails” that stick up. See Sitting Bull. See Chief Seattle. See Hawaii. See Philippines.
It would be wise for the Iranians to understand that what befell Iraq or is taking place in Afghanistan and Pakistan was/is all about doing it to Iran. Sooner.Later. Either way.
Iranians would do well to get very cozy with any or all of these — China,Russia,India — being this is the bulwark building most likely to make the chickenshit American militarists who only like to bully weaklings or ultra out classed militaries with American Almighty War Making Power. The Iranians paid dearly during 20th century for what the British Empire first did to be followed by what the American Empire did or still is doing. The Americans are into being WarBastards and Iran, the Iranian people will suffer terrible destruction/deathdealing if/when the Americans attack. Diplomatic ruses and treaty abuses are old American tricks — see Native American Treaties History.
Thanks wendydavis — stay with it. Reoommended.
*heh* Sh*t happens all the time around here…! ;-)
It’s easy, go into the edit mode of the entire post, and scroll down…! ;-)
No need, if you’re so inclined, M’dear…! *g*
Thanks for the feedback wendy. i get a little worked up sometiems. I don’t mean to offend. ;-)
Good post … American diplomacy continues living up to recent high standards it seems.
Gonna have to walk me through it more completely, I’m afraid. I swear I remember a way, but I can’t find anywhere to scroll down more completely. Could I have (or the gods?) disabled the function somehow by mistake? I even googled ‘how to delete a comment in WordPress’, didn’t find anything but deleting the comment function altogether, or clumps of spam. I’m willin’, CTuttle…just clueless.
Another brief sighting of the rare and wonderful kgb bird; how nice!
Not offended in the least, ackack. So much to know, and you clearly know far more than I on this issue, so I’m glad you came on to give me/us a history lesson.
But it reminds me of the few folks on Dave Seaton’s diaries backing Obama, maintaining that we must support O because we can’t let Romney make the next SCOTUS choices. But hell’s bells, when ya have a Dem president who doesn’t care about the Rule of Law anyway…how is that a reason?
Not to mention his utterly crap pick Elena Kagan….
Dunno how I missed responding, ubetcha; chalk it up to confusion over a long comment stream. But love the ‘Charade’ video, and my stars: such disagreement over the impact of the sanctions on Iran’s economy.
When Hillary and O’Bomba nuked the deal Brazil and Turkey had arranged two years ago, it convinced me that the US seriously was not interesting in negotiating in good faith.
I get Iran cozying up to China and Russia, but why India? Hillary had announced that she’d won over India, and that they would call for an end to nuclear capability for Iran in exchange for new arms deals. But I just googled, and it seems as though Hillary’s glee was a bit misplaced.
Head-spinning financial positioning. Reject Lockheed Martin and Boeings bids? Unthinkable!
What tightrope will the State Dept. walk between Pakistan and India? Given they both want Afghanistan, it seems yet another reason the US won’t ever leave. But I do now see more clearly why you mentioned India.
And yeppers on the Native American treaties; America’s original sin is still going on. Decolonize the Black Hills! ;o)
Thanks, shootthatarrow, for all the good input.
I was only just now able to see where were the damn asterisks you were referring to lol. Next stop, the optometrist. That was a wonderful diary from last year. You have produced so much beautiful work, dear wendydavis, one wonders how the world can continue to resist your loving perceptions. ((wnedydavis))
Notice how we are making the inevitable seamless transition from taking away all privacy rights to fight terrorism, to taking away all privacy rights in the service of catching mere common criminals. File this in the “Nobody could have anticipated . . .” file. Grrrrr!
LOL If you ain’t worked up by now, you ain’t conscious. ;-)
Willing AND clueless–that way lies maximum popularity. ‘Twas ever thus . . . lolol.
Kagan wasted no time in supporting a trimming of the Miranda protections. There will be no lefty judges from Obama. Not ever.
Well, darlin’ rc; that’s a nice bit of sunshine to have blown up my skirt this mornin’, lol! The praise is too high, but I do appreciate it. Our banned friend once remarked that my archives could have been penned by twelve different voices; seems to be so. (Lots of jokes in there, lol!) I’ll leave them alone.
Shit, hfc’s post has me reeling again; found myself stumped tryin’ to translate the images into any coherent word order; I’m countin’ on you do to do it better, my friend.
I just use Walmart cheater specs; magnifiers, really, and I refuse to go to the next step past 1.25 diopters. But since you can’t see the bloody asterisks either, I’ll do it this way. (Rain in on my mind; high winds, dust and dry dry dry here.) Thus, we in the Soutwest often dream of beautiful rain:

Yeppers; I kinda/sorta honked on about her at the end of Seaton’s last post, including her support for Monsanto. Grrrr and Brrrr. Asshole.
Oh, yeah: his next choice would be a Great Liberal Lion.
Ooopsie; took a Toast Break, came back…looks like I’d forgotten to press Send. See what I mean? When I finally hit the Dementia Stream…who the hell will notice, lol?
Drowning in the Dementia Stream. The next big Stevie Nicks song? Can’t find a link . . .
I’ll send ya the link when I record it, lol! Er…if I can remember to…
Bugger; I’d just this morning given up having a small book sale here to aid TarheelDem in replacing his gear the cops in Chicago stole. Hadn’t heard from him or John Washington, tra la la…kids coming tomorrow, my house looks as though it had been decorated by Miss Havisham. Had Steve carry all the goodies downstairs, but: THD just emailed, says go for it if I think it’s right.
Well, of course it’s right, but can it work, can I do it, well, sure you can, wendydavis, get your magic wand outta yer giant purse, get yer ass in gear, okay, thanks fer the pep-talk, rc, but I may need you to host it if my tit stays in this giant ringer, okay, breathe ya goofy bitch, hang tough, subterranean homesick blues rule. Ahh; i feel better now; you, OTOH, prolly just caught a naggin’ case of PTSD from my rant, lol!

It is really quite trying to listen to those of my friends who insist that if we don’t re-elect, our SCOTUS will be further skewed to the right.
As you imply, the choice of Kagan has already done that.
BTW’s, for what it is worth, I have been on HuffPo for years, but this morning finally had to send them a fuck you, lose my info note, after the mods there edited out two posts I had made about his arguments about growth and fairness. I merely had pointed out that growth monkeys are the root of the problem. Growth in military, aggression, fraud, fear-mongering, etc.
A lot of us felt that there would be changes st HP post-Arianna, and we were right. She wasn’t perfect, but had a place in the arena.
And that Mr. Reich is becoming more an Obamabot the closer to the election we get.
Also cancelled my sponsorship of KQED this year after many years over their increasing single-sided right-wing reports.
Our fora continue to shrink.
FDL is more cherished and valued and needed than ever.
And I thank you all for that.
FWIW
Oh, ackack; I’ll try to respond sometime to day…or…
I’m bookin’ to get too many things done. Dig it outta your dashboard to find it again. Meanwhile, glad you’re here, and…welcome. ;o)
That’s not nec. I guess that I’ll just be bugging you folks more.
Thx again
