Was just listening to Insane Hannity on the radio. He was banging on *against* Obama’s plan to put 2.5 million people to work New Deal/CCC style.
It’s fascinating when you think about it. When FDR came to office he too faced a lot of popular opposition…from socialists and fascists who thought he wasn’t going far enough. There were virtually no populist voices pushing for a laissez-faire non-response to the depression.
What a different ideological world we live in today: Even as laissez faire decomposes, its corpse walks the earth in the form of a massive "populist" right-wing of entertainer-commentators on TV and radio. How will this effect Obama’s ability to carry out bold initiatives that go against laissez-faire ideology?

I have no problem with people working. My question is: Is Obama promising to put 2.5 million Americans to work or is he going through with the amnesty deal even McCain supported and is actually putting to work some Americans but mostly illegal aliens given the fast track?
The term “Right-wing” is a comfortably catchy phrase and it makes everyone feel like they’re relevant and in the mix, but could we get the meaning correct please????? IF “Left-wing” is Communism meaning complete and total government control then “Right-wing” should be Anarchy and no government at all. I’m sorry, but there is nothing “conservative” about Anarchists. And in light of government the way it is now, I can see why the anarchists rage. I don’t agree with their position, but they have a reason to shout when government says, “Don’t fear. We’re coming to help.”
Hannity was railing against the political opposition when Hannity’s America was being driven into the ground by Hannity’s incompetent anti-government President. Why would anyone expect the screed to change now that Americans have voted to go in a new direction? But you raise an excellent point. Obama must confront the issue directly.
